For Thy Pleasure

When John was granted access into the Divine Throneroom, he became a witness with a front row seat to the glory and majesty of God and the perpetual worship of heaven’s court. It was while listening in to their song that he heard these words: “For Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they were created.” The thought is striking! We were created for His pleasure. He does not exist for ours! And yet, most evangelical Christians today treat God as if He owes them something or should jump at the every whim and desire of His created beings. How ironic, that of all of His creation, only we who have been granted the will to choose cower away from our destined purpose. All else fulfills its design “Flowers are still fragrant and lilies are still beautiful and the bees still search for nectar amongst the flowers; the birds still sing with their thousand-voice choir on a summer day, and the sun, moon, and the stars all make their rounds doing the will of God.” But humanity too often fails to live for His pleasure. May we again seek to live for the purpose for which we were created and may the fulfilling of that purpose bring pleasure to the One who alone deserves of our worship.
