Issues of mis-aligned self-esteem are the great sin of our society today. Some think too highly of themselves and overstate and overestimate their importance. Others, on the other extreme, view their work through a distorted lens formed by bad experiences, hurtful relationships, and past failures. For others frighteningly, the two extremes are often found in the same individual.
The believer must remember and rejoice in the truth that it is God who determines one’s value. “It is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends” (2 Corinthians 10:18). And, beautiful thought, the Lord HAS commended us!
We are created in His image, fearfully and wonderfully made. He knows when we sit and when we rise and His plans for us include a blessed future! He did not spare His own Son and so He will give us freely all things, His estimation is that we have great value!

What a great promise to hold on to. To know that the creator of the universe, the one who spoke things into existence, values US and who we are in Him. To know of this assurance is a true blessing and I pray that I will never take this for granted.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty good 'pick me up' pk. A golden nugget of truth that I'm going to put in my pocket and carry until your next devo.
