While reflecting upon the Lord’s Prayer, I was struck again by the commandment of Jesus to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” It seems to be a tall order indeed.
His will is carried out in heaven with an unclouded view of His glory and majesty. Now we see through a dark glass but in heaven there is no fog, no veil, and no tempered glass. His will is carried out in heaven with untainted motives of purity. No seraphim is seeking to be seen or noticed for their praise or act of service. His will is carried out in heaven with unencumbered hearts of holiness. There is no flesh to put down, no sin with which to struggle, and no pride to resist. His will in heaven is being carried out with uninterrupted surrender. There is no “on again, off again” surrender but only undivided and uninterrupted surrender to the will of the Father. May it be so with us as well. His will be done on earth as it is in heaven with an unclouded view of His majesty, untainted motives of purity, unencumbered hearts of holiness, and uninterrupted surrender.
QUESTION: Which of these four aspects is your greatest struggle in doing the Father’s will on earth?

Well stated as always PK:
ReplyDeleteI was reading just the other day a passaged that highlighted another "tall order" that Jesus expects of us. 1 Peter states that Jesus commands for us to, "Be Holy as I am Holy." Which for me, could cover all four points of struggle that you stated. Every day I struggle with each of these to some to degree, every day I fall short of the standard that Jesus put forward for all Christians. But luckily grace plays just as big a part in my walk as continual failure. Even though the standard that was set before us was perfection, the distance in which I fall short is always completely made up for by grace through the death and resurection of Jesus.
This is good spritual eatin' PK. *says with southern draw*
