There is in the 13th Psalm a very personal and very intimate confession that flows from the heart of David. In the opening four verses he quite transparently describes the condition of his soul, a condition not unlike many of us have ourselves. A sense of being forgotten, far away from God, lonely, sad, and vulnerable is the summary of David’s plight. He felt that he might be easy prey for his enemy. But his condition or feeling would not get the final say!
“But I have trusted in your lovingkindness; my heart shall rejoice in my salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:5, 6). This song of trust was what brought him out of the hold of despair. Like Paul and Silas in the Philippian jail, he sang at the crucial midnight hour.
His lovingkindness is trustworthy! His salvation is worth rejoicing about and his dealings of grace deserve your most joyful song. May we trust in the midst of despair!
Question: How does praise affect you in difficult places and how does it change your perspective?

There is a song by Casting Crowns with these words “I will praise you in this storm” and this for me is a wonderful reminder that He is always worthy of my praise. Yes, it is easy to praise Him when things are going well but as soon as things turn south then where is my praise. I have a few scriptures that I will use as my reminders. Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11. I also have a plaque that has this saying “God not only knows where He is taking you but He also knows how to get you there” and there is a song that I hold onto, “Blessed Assurance” and with this song I can sing “This is my story, this is my song, I’m praising my Savior all the day long!” Even in my situation that I am dealing with right now I know that His plans, His eyes, His protection is always over me and this gives me the hope and assurance that I need even when I am not seeing it.
ReplyDeleteIt is not good to withhold the glory rightfully due to God, for he has said "whoso offereth praise glorifieth me" (Ps. 50:23)

I find that it's hard to think of two things at the same time,so if I fill my mind with praise I'm not able to worry so much about the problem, which allows God to take care of it for me in a much more timely way.
