Isaiah 30:18 reminds us that God longs to be gracious to us. He is passionately excited (in the Hebrew) to bestow upon us His grace. He never wearies in giving grace and never becomes reluctant to extend His mercy to us. There is never a moment when the Divine attitude is “just one more time will I forgive you,” not at all! He longs to be gracious.
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Just as He gives freely of His grace with passionate excitement, so we should respond accordingly to others by giving grace.
Question: Why is it so difficult to give grace to others?

MAYBE one reason is that we are all a little selfish. We ENJOY holding something against a brother or sister because it gives us a certain kind of power or control over that person. So we don't give 'grace'(forgiveness) as God would have us to. It IS a 'difficult' situation to be in...is it not? 8->

Or maybe it's that we haven't done well at receiving grace.
ReplyDeleteFor me it would be two fold as stated in Pastor's devotion . First is being passionately excited about people is hard for us to do and understand. We see the outside but God sees the heart. We see what people do and hold onto that and will cause us to loose "the passion" for that person. Where as God does not loose that passion. Secondly it would be in the Devine's attitude. I pray that I can learn this attitude for when we have His attitude then giving grace becomes a part of who I am in Christ.
