The Gentleness of Christ

When Paul wrote his second letter to the church at Corinth, he made reference to the “gentleness of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:1). That gentleness was displayed throughout his earthly ministry when he touched the bruised and broken. He was not harsh with Zaccheus, or the adulteress, a doubting disciple or an immoral Samaritan woman. He tenderly addressed the little children and his arrogant spokesman Peter who boasted of his loyalty but then ditched his Savior once the heat was turned up. That same gentleness reaches out to our bruises, failures, wounds, thoughts, broken promises and squandered dreams and ministers grace, healing and new hope!

  1. I can say that in my own walk "gentleness" is mostly overshadowed by "boldness" which, for me, could be described as harsh. I am bold when it comes to what I believe. My boldness/harshness was justified until now. We are supposed to be proud of the cross and what we believe. But if we look at how Jesus acted in every situation involving nonbelievers he was always loving and gentle. A perfectly highlighted devotion PK.

    Dear oldmannewspaper:

The pastor was correct when he says Christ was gentile with believers, but wasn't Jesus always harsh with the hypocrites? :->
