Our Glory and the Lifter of Our Head

So often I have experienced the great victory and spiritual breakthrough of knowing that a particular battle has been won, a certain enemy defeated or a specific aspect of the flesh finally put down. That great sense of liberty however, is often short-lived as just as I am rejoicing over my conquered foe, abruptly, without warning, it re-appears and this time with vengeance.

It may be a specific sin or emotional battle that I thought was finally put down but now I again find myself wrestling; and with less energy than before. This is not at all uncommon to the people of God.

Israel thought they had shaken the strong-armed bondage of Pharaoh and the Egyptians but when Pharaoh considered what he had done, he could not believe he had released Israel from serving him so he packed up and pursued them with greater fervor than before. This is what our enemy does to us. But hear the Word of the Lord!

Moses told the people to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. The angel that had been leading Israel withdrew to behind the camp and became their rearguard as did the cloud of glory. Israel was miraculously preserved from their re-occurring enemy.

God is no respecter of persons. May we stand still and see His salvation. May we experience ongoing victory over the enemy that pursues and may we find ourselves confidently secure in the Presence of the Lord who is a shield about us, the glory and the lifter of our heads!

  1. As promised, here I am reading your blog. I think you or mom should possibly mention this (the blog)in the bulletin or something that is in the public eye.

It's amazing how you can take so much information and biblical substance and compact it into four paragraphs. Your mind is a walking zip drive.
