The greatest weapon that Satan uses to paralyze us and hinder us from effectiveness is to control our thought lives. We are bombarded with thoughts of guilt and shame, reminded of failure; thoughts which provoke lusts and unhealthy desires and distorted pictures of dreams yet unfulfilled.
These thoughts create anxiety, fear, wasted moments of mental wandering, and spiritual impotency. Only when we take these thoughts captive with the TRUTH of God’s Word, which is altogether lovely, reminders of God’s mercy and faithfulness in the past, faith-filled and God-given portraits of the joy set before us, and focus on the beauty, power, and love of Christ, will we be able to escape the spiritual paralysis and carry out our highest calling.
